Timeless Interior Design
With a pastel palette and natural materials,
this light-filled home has become a dream made in coastal heaven!
Kate Bell of Kate Bell Design helped the owner realise her vision for the interior, the two worked closely together to create the finished result. The owner wanted a sense of flow and to maximise the view. She also wanted to use natural
materials, including oak flooring and natural stone, teamed with calming, pale
pastels. Kate says they didn’t want to create a beach house, but rather a home
with a beachy feel, sophisticated but also warm and inviting. A
sanctuary in harmony with its surrounds, with fluid, open-plan living
spaces.
I love the end result, soothing and tranquil and although it is essentially traditional it also has elements that surprise us like the Moroccan-inspired laser cut screen at the entry, the soft green glass kitchen splashback tiles and the painted Chinese antique pieces. Classic architectural detailing, clean, contemporary furniture and raw, natural, textured finishes like sisal and wicker all sit in perfect harmony.
